Omnicom confirms Southwark agency move but leaves adam&eve behind in Paddington

bankside_23Omnicom has finally confirmed that it’s going to move most of its big agencies into a refurbed building in Southwark Street near London’s South Bank (as we forecast way back in June) but, unsportingly, has decided not to group AMV/BBDO and adam&eveBBDO.

This would have been fun as fraternal affections between the two are being strained by a furious race to be acclaimed Agency of the Year in various UK titles (even or own); a rivalry heightened by them also producing this year’s big Christmas ads, John Lewis from a&e and Sainsbury’s ‘Christmas is for Sharing’ from AMV.

So there’ll be no unpleasantness in the life at Southwark Towers, alas.

Adam&eve is staying put in the old BMP HQ in Paddington’s Bishops Bridge Road although the rather dated quarters are being given an upgrade. Instead it looks like AMV, TBWA (whose Charlotte Street office is due to be redeveloped) and its Manning Gottlieb media agency are going to headline Omnicom’s new pad, along with Omnicom management.

Which will make the South Bank, home to London’s fashionable Borough food market, awash with ad folk as WPP’s Ogilvy is moving to a riverside office there from unloved Canary Wharf along with media agency MEC.

Oh to be a shareholder in one of the many eateries there.
