BBC Creative aims for another killing with Eve

Most of us loved the first series of Killing Eve on BBC 1 – strewn with awards – and the second starts on Saturday, with a new writer Emerald Fennell.

A big part of the first series’ success was surprise, to find oneself batting (to a degree) for a psychopathic if undeniably witty and decorative assassin, Villanelle played by Jodie Comer (below right with Sandra Oh as Eve.)

We know more or less what to expect this time (some people have streamed it already) so BBC Creative is giving it all a kick start with an interactive ‘#Crazy4Eve’ campaign on posters, radio, Twitter and elsewhere. You can even ring Eve’s voicemail.

BBC Creative ECD Laurent Simon says: “The traditional objective of mass media campaigns is to talk directly to the audience. It was great fun to put a fresh spin on this concept and let our Killing Eve characters generate the excitement themselves through Eve and Villanelle’s public displays of obsession. We hope viewers find this playful and mysterious promotion for Killing Eve II as entertaining and rewarding as we did creating it.”
