Coronation Street has been adorning ITV for a somewhat mind-boggling 57 years – still taking 40 per cent of the TV audience on some occasions – so it’s reasonable enough for the UK’s biggest commercial broadcaster (in terms of audience anyway) to celebrate it.
So ITV Creative takes us behind the scenes to show how it’s made and how that’s changed over the years.
Not a bad idea but something’s missing: the show.
ITV, of course, sells guided tours of its studios including the Corry set. Maybe that’s the idea. Or old footage is too creaky and grainy to be used.
Whatever its enduring appeal is, you wouldn’t really know from this.
