The UK’s Marketing Society has announced its line-up of candidates to be ‘Marketing Leader of the Year 2014’ and here they are:

*Peter Duffy, group commercial director – customer, marketing and product, easyJet
*Michael Inpong, marketing and R&D director, Muller Dairy
*Catherine Kehoe, managing director, retail brands and marketing, Lloyds Banking Group
*David James, marketing director, Consumer Division, BT
*Sheila Mitchell, marketing director, Public Health England
*Rupert Thomas, marketing director, Waitrose
*Christian Woolfenden, global marketing director, Paddy Power
Marketing doesn’t mean just advertising of course but it’s hard to recall any particularly distinguished advertising for any of these companies. And what’s Mr Woolfenden of Paddy Power doing on there? Has he been nominated for the making the most tasteless noise – as in this transgender number?
Maybe some judging advertisers are as daft as ad awards juries.
