Moneysupermarket’s Kenny Jacobs joins Ryanair – will we now see a proper ad campaign?

Unknown-2Moneysupermarket.com marketing boss Kenny Jacobs (left), a former Tesco exec, only left the price comparison site last week after just a year in the post but but it seems it was his choice as he’s just been named as Ryanair’s first CMO.

This is a job and a half as Ryanair’s rumbustious CEO Michael O’ Leary has never been a fan of advertising (apart from his own dim-witted jokes) or marketing or, indeed, customers as a whole.

But Ryanair has taken a pounding recently from budget airline rival Easyjet, fronted by the rather more user-friendly Carolyn McCall, and O’Leary has promised to change his ways. Well, we’ll see.

Jacobs, presumably, will want to arm himself with an ad agency in his new role. At Moneysupermarket he hired Mother, which can also be pretty rumbustious. This could all get rather interesting.
