360eight produces classic ad for Yellow Pages

We discussed the other day whether or not ads were ‘wot they used to be’ in terms of quality; few people would argue that the style these days is the same as the tightly-constructed small narratives of yore.

But this ad for Yellow Pages from 360eight in South Africa ‘ ‘Golden Plumber’ – is and it’s funny to boot.

Yellow Pages, known these days as Hibu (left) for reasons known only to its owners and the lucky branding agency charged with the task of producing a silly and irrelevant name, is a corporate basket case, having used all its shareholders money to buy a directories business in Spain. Memo to shareholders: when the CEO wants to spend big in Spain fire him.

Anyway, it’s a very good and refreshing ad. And golden plumber Henri Delatissier is an inspired creation.
