Goodby’s Photoshop epic leads Emmy contenders

The Emmy awards, run by the US National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, has muscled in on ad awards too and it’s announced the shortlist of TV ads for the awards in September.

They’re a pretty predictable line-up of US ads: #LikeAGirl, Anomaly’s tear jerker Super Bowl ad for Budweiser etc (they’re all in Ad Age here).

But this one’s a bit different, Goodby Silverstein’s celebration of Adobe Photoshop’s 25th anniversary, screened during the Oscars.

Directed by agency creative directors Brady Baltezore and Mike Landry (proving that some creative directors produce too).

Goodby seems to have recovered its form after escaping from the nightmare of General Motors’ bespoke Commonwealth agency, now essentially a McCann operation.
