Matthew McConaughey goes in to bat for Lincoln again – this time with some Strand-style solitary gloom

Matthew McConaughey’s back with new Ford Lincoln MKZ spots, this time for the saloon/sedan.

Matt, and WPP agency Hudson Rouge, took a bit of a pasting for his last effort, featuring the new Lincoln SUV and a recalcitrant bull. Although it certainly got noticed, with spoofs all over the place, most notably by Jim Carrey on Saturday Night Live.

You might wonder why McConaughey, who can name his own price for movies these days, is doing this. Price maybe has something to do with it.

Anyway, here’s one of the latest batch:

This is a actually the ‘You’re Never Alone With A Strand’ category of adverts; mildly gloomy solitary moodiness that signally failed to sell cigarettes in the late 50s.

From Ogilvy in the UK and directed by ‘The Third Man’ director Carol Reed – to no avail. They don’t make ’em like that any more.

Or, maybe, they do…
