Russell Ramsey joins T&P’s Pulse Creative as ECD

Russell Ramsey, former creative chief at JWT London, has joined The&Partnership’s News UK agency, Pulse Creative, as executive creative director.

Ramsey will be based on-site at News UK, running the 70-strong Pulse Creative team in the publisher’s London Bridge offices.

Pulse is a partnership with WPP agencies Wunderman, m/SIX and Tag, providing a full service offering for The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun, and the titles’ associated gambling businesses, as well as Wireless Group, home of radio brands Virgin and Talk.

Ramsey left JWT in 2017 after a ten year stint, swept aside when the agency attempted to “reinvent what brand building creativity means.” That year, work that Ramsey’s team created for The Glasgow School of Art won a Cannes Gold Lion, and its National Centre for Domestic Violence campaign won a Silver Lion.

Before joining JWT, Ramsey spent 17 years at BBH London, working on campaigns for brands including Levi’s, Audi, Lynx, Barclays and Baileys. Last year he was interim ECD at Crispin Porter + Bogusky London.

Ramsey said “Pulse are responsible for some iconic brands, producing content in so many channels on a daily basis. This role puts me at the centre of all of that.”

Pulse Creative’s most recent campaign for The Times, “Politics, Tamed,” was a big, brand-building effort that reflected the Brexit chaos in the House of Commons.
