Comedian and presenter Richard Ayoade is evidently beloved of HSBC. After appearing in two unremarkable efforts from JWT for the bank’s consumer business he’s now in the hands of Grey, saying that HSBC is open for business, “supporting UK businesses everywhere.” Now there’s a thing – maybe.

Corporate advertising like this is vanilla wallpaper however trendy you think your presenter is. We’ve noted before, apropos Lloyds, that most UK bank advertising is crap because they have nothing useful to say. Richard ends up poised on the white cliffs of Dover. Go on then…
