BBH scoops Pernod Ricard’s global Absolut account

You can’t keep a really good agency down and BBH, which has taken a hit from Diageo by losing Johnnie Walker and Gordon’s to Anomaly, has bounced back with the global win of Pernod Ricard’s Absolut vodka. Absolut is said to the world’s fifth-biggest spirits brand.

Unusually for such an appointment following a pitch BBH has been charged with continuing an existing campaign, #AbsolutNights which “challenges conventions – reimagining and reinventing nightlife for all.” Have to take their word for it, don’t get out so much these days.

Absolut marketing VP Craig Johnson says: “We are thrilled to have the creative and strategic talents of BBH join the Absolut family as we bring to life the next evolution of the #AbsolutNights campaign.

“We are confident that the approach BBH demonstrated through the pitch process will extend our legacy of bold marketing that made Absolut one of the world’s most known and loved brands.”

BBH London MD Adam Arnold says: “We are deeply proud to be partnering such an iconic brand. Our ambition is to live up to its rich advertising heritage and at the same time make the brand meaningful to a whole new generation of drinkers. Creative opportunities do not come bigger or better than Absolut.”

London agencies are enjoying a mini-renaissance at the moment and the example of BBH over the years is an important part of their DNA. Adland as a whole needs a BBH firing on all cylinders and Absolut represents a big opportunity.
