Has Unilever’s Dove with its ‘Real Beuaty Sketches’ actually changed how we view females? It may have done as the new Pirelli Calendar, repository of pulchritude down the ages, will feature women of more mature years including Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet (both still pretty glam admittedly), Helen Mirren and Charlotte Rampling.
Also featured is Anastacia Ignatova (not the model, she’s Anastasia), a professor at Moscow’s State University. Photogapher Peter Lindbergh discovered her on his travels (both below).
Lindbergh says he deliberately chose not to feature photoshopped young models. Neither did Annie Leibovitz last year, to be fair.
Here’s an intriguing image from 1990 on a theme that might have sufficed in Olympic year too. Maybe not with this cast though.
