Ahah, so we now know why David Kolbusz has quit Wieden & Kennedy New York, the former deputy ECD of BBH (a Canadian, left) is coming back to London as CCO of Droga5.
Kolbusz replaces London office founder Nik Studzinski, who left to join Karmarama as CCO in May. The other founder, Kevin Dundas, left earlier to be replaced, eventually, by Bill Scott, group MD of Grey UK.
Droga5 is the most spectacular example of the many US agencies that have arrived in London and failed to set the world on fire. Theories abound for this lack of impact. One is that clients, who only tend to hang around in marketing for a few years before being shunted to another part of the company, just don’t know who they are.
Droga5, high successful in the US, needs a win in London. It recently closed its Sydney office, a personal as well as corporate blow for Aussie founder David Droga.
