Havas Media wins Penguin/Random House account

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, the new entity that runs the media tycoon’s print businesses, is combining the media accounts for its two big book businesses – Penguin and Random House – and has awarded the £5m business to Havas Media following a competitive pitch. Havas previously worked on Penguin.

The two companies’ authors and brands include James Patterson, Jamie Oliver, Jo Nesbo, Mary Berry, Doctor Who, Nick Hornby, Jacqueline Wilson, Terry Pratchett, Malcolm Gladwell, Jeff Kinney and Sophie Kinsella.

Penguin Random House group director Hannah Telfer says: “Havas Media has a great reputation, and we wanted a partner who understood both the challenges and opportunities presented to the evolving publishing industry. We’re looking forward to working with Havas Media to drive the discovery of our authors and grow audiences for their books across all the formats we publish.”

“Having worked with the Penguin since 2012, we are excited about demonstrating our expertise and passion to the broader portfolio and bringing their fantastic content to life.”

This is the second major account win for Havas Media this year following £10m Iglo Group. Havas also launched innovation hub Havas Media Labs in April.
