Not sure we can take a Christmas ad this early in the season – it’s still October – but Shop Direct’s is getting its retaliation in first with another winsome piece of animation from St Luke’s and Against All Odds. This time featuring ‘Elsie’s gift,’ with the line ‘find the gift that helps them find their gift’ – in this case something which turns young Elsie into an astronaut.

Hang on, is this an idea?

Shop Direct CMO Sylvia Woon says: “The greatest gift you can give someone is the power to be whoever and whatever they want to be – and that’s what we’ve focused on this year. Our ‘find their gift’ campaign aims to put Very at the heart of Christmas, inspiring consumers to give that one gift that could help a loved one realise their dreams.”

Very’s previous efforts have scored pretty well amid all the Christmas heavy artillery from the likes of John Lewis, M&S and the supermarkets.
