Venerable beer brand Grolsch (founded in the 17th cenury) has appointed WPP’s Wunderman Amsterdam as its global digital agency following a pitch. Grolsch has been sold to Japan’s Asahi Group as part of the AB InBev/SAB Miller giant brewery merger.
Wunderman Amsterdam will work with local agencies in key international markets including the United Kingdom, Canada, France and Argentina.
Grolsch global brand director Ronald van Amerongen says: “We are delighted to appoint Wunderman Amsterdam as our global digital partner. They have already shown great strategic insight in how to create compelling, relevant content around social beer occasions, as well as how to make Grolsch an iconic brand in the ever-changing global digital landscape.”
Wunderman Amsterdam CEO Antoinette Hoes says: “We are very excited to work with such a great beer brand. Grolsch has bold ambitions across the world and their ambitions match ours. They have always been an unconventional brand and we look forward to bringing that to life in the digital space.”
