Boots does good, Debenhams does gifts at Christmas

Boots may be part of the giant Walgreens Boots Alliance – which describes itself as the first global pharmacy-led, health and wellbeing enterprise – but its advertising (in the UK at least) positions itself artfully as a kind of commercial version of Clare in the Community.

So here’s the Christmas campaign from Mother, inviting nurses, paramedics and other good people who work on Christmas Day to a session of full-on pre-Christmas pampering.

Good idea, deftly realised.

Debenhams is always taking stick in the City for this and that: Too many sales, not knowing what it’s up to in the online era but, actually, I think it does. The high street’s a tough place and there are worse emporia – just ask Philip Green (if you can find him). And there are a lot worse places to do your Christmas shopping.

The gifts take centre stage in this new campaign from JWT, with some celeb voiceovers kicked off by Ab Fab’s Jennifer Saunders.

OK, does the job.
