David Bowie, whose death from cancer at 69 was announced today, made surprisingly little impact on advertising as a performer although his music appears in countless ads. But, as a genuine musical great, maybe he didn’t need to. If he’d been born later he’d have been producing ‘content’ left, right and centre. Characteristic of him to release his first album for 20 years, Blackstar, just a few days ago.
Here he is (amidst the murk) with Tina Turner in the 1980s for Pepsi.
And for Vittel in 2006.
More meaningfully, here’s the great man showing he could still hack it with a song by another recently departed legend, Loud Reed’s ‘Waiting for the Man.’
