Campaign shows it can still party at Cannes

Good to see that Campaign could still throw a pretty good party at last week’s Cannes Lions. And doesn’t the logo/typography (on the sail-type banners) still look great?

Almost a lost art of course, and all thanks to eccentric Swiss art director Roland Schenk 50 or so years ago. Mind you, trying to write single column headlines in Roland’s Franklin Gothic Bold Extra Condensed (or whatever it was) was a bloody nightmare and produced some exceptional howlers.

Not quite the luminaries you might expect maybe (apart from the ever-dependable John Hegarty). But I quite fancy the lady from the Radio Advertising Bureau…
