Asda’s Easter chicks, Peoplewelike reinvents Le Coq Sportif and Neil Dawson bounces back for Collect+

***Supermarket advertising is a funny old business isn’t it? Here’s the latest effort from Asda’s new agency, VCCP, for Easter – you can tell it’s Easter ‘cos it’s got a chick in it.

Why does my heart sink when I hear ‘Funky Town?’

***Newish French agency Peoplewelike is trying to reinvent Le Coq Sportif as a big sports-based brand. So it’s produced a new campaign ‘Smile, c’est du sport,’ which will run across Europe and culminate with the Tour de France, in which it’s sponsoring the winner’s yellow jersey.

Brave, anyway – not a bead of sweat in sight. I’ve got an old Le Coq coat that I dig out when I’ve got to take a friend’s dog for a walk. Not much help really…

Anyway, Peoplewelike says it’s planning to open in New York soon. Bon chance, but the name might provoke the odd NYC barb.

***BETC London ECD Neil Dawson left the agency in rather mysterious circumstances over Christmas (as far as anyone else could see it was going pretty well) but he’s been keeping himself busy, creating this ad for parcels firm Collect+ with Clive Pickering.

Very nice too. Who needs an agency?
