Burger King rebrands to ‘Burger Queen’ for Stevenage FC

Burger King won friends with its recent sponsorship of Stevenage FC, and a rebranding to “Burger Queen” for the women’s football team is making the fast food giant even more popular with the locals, and with FIFA 21 players around the world too.

The new logo isn’t just for the ad — it appears on the kit, which is also on sale for fans. The accompanying ad is made by agency David Madrid.

Soco Nunez, marketing director at Burger King UK, said: “The women’s team faces the same challenges and hurdles as the men’s team and it’s only fair that it receive the same support from our brand with an equal sponsorship. After successfully spotlighting the talent of the Stevenage FC men’s team last year, we wanted to do the same for the women’s team.”

The ups and downs of minor football clubs (Stevenage is in way down in League Two) are becoming something of a cause celebre. Hollywood Star Ryan Reynolds recently bought up Wrexham football club (even lower down than Stevenage), and Cameron Diaz claims to be a fan of Brentford FC.
