R/GA lures Le Masurier from Google to bolster senior creative ranks

A busy time for new creative hires in London’s adland, which may indicate that some agencies at least are waking up to the need to refresh the ranks and stem the tide of senior creatives moving out to pastures tech.

Interpublic’s R/GA, which has seen a number of senior departures including CCO Nick Law to Publicis and Taras Wayner to Saatchi New York, has hired Andre Le Masurier (below) as EMEA CCO. Le Masurier joins from Google Brand Studio, where he was ECD, reversing a trend out to tech firms. Google Brand Studio is an R/GA client.

BBH in London has lured senior creative Martha Riley back from Ogilvy, where she worked on British Airways among others, to support CCO Ian Heartfield. Ogilvy in London has lost a string of senior creatives recently including Mick Mahoney who has joined Paul Hammersley’s Harbour collective.

Elsewhere VaynerMedia which is expanding rapidly in London has hired former We Are Social and Buzzman creative Daniel Fox-Evans as group creative director. US-based Vayner says it now has 100 people in London.

Of his move Le Masurier says: “R/GA is uniquely positioned to leverage the power of creativity, storytelling and technology to help transform both its own business and their clients. It’s in their DNA, always has been. Their uncanny ability to shape shift and stay ahead of the curve places them in an enviable position to overcome many of the challenges the industry is facing today. I couldn’t be more excited to begin working with the team at R/GA, and our client partners, on what will be an exciting new chapter for both the agency and myself.”
