Last weekend saw the one of the events that always makes it into Sir Martin Sorrell’s crowded diary, the ‘Goodwood Revival’ cricket match at Goodwood House in Sussex between WPP and Johnny Hornby’s CHI (now part of the enlarged The&Partnership).
WPP usually wins – well it does own 49 per cent of CHI and SMS likes his cricket.
This year though the cunning (some might say foolhardy) Hornby bolstered his team with ex-professionals Gladstone Small and Shaun Udal plus athletic sons Ben and Joe (who took three wickets).
The result? A rousing win for Hornby (below right) by 64 runs, a big margin in a 30-over match.
Mind how you go Johnny.
Still a good time was had by all including various captains of industry and upscale hacks, the Times’ Emma Tucker and Rachel Johnson among them.
