George Cole’s legacy in commercials

George Cole, star of Minder, arguably the best comedy series ITV ever made, and, before that, Flash Harry in the St Trinian’s films, has died aged 90.

In the 1980s he essayed some of Minder’s Arthur Daley (although he denied it) for Leeds Building Society’s Liquid Gold account.

In 1971 he starred in “Istanbul’ from Benson & Hedges, from the almost equally great CDP.

If that isn’t ‘content,’ the buzzword de nos jours, I don’t know what is.
