Disney decides on doodle in Christmas ads bestiary
So far this year we’ve had the first of two Grinches, a second outing for the BFG, Puss in Boots (why didn’t Boots think of this earlier? Maybe they did) and all manner of kid-friendly winsomeness.
Cue Disney, of course. The mouse goes to town at Christmas, not to be outdone by anyone. So it’s adam&eveDDB in the chair with John Goodman providing the words and Taika Waititi behind the camera. And an animated doodle (which, to be honest, looks pretty odd.) A silent one too but that’s for beginners.
“Disney stories have always been a source of togetherness, wonder, and joy, especially during the holidays,” Disney’s senior VP Joanna Balikian says. “With A Disney Holiday Short: Best Christmas Ever, we sought to capture that timeless spirit of friendship, family, and imagination that brings generations together and makes the holidays magical.” There’ll also be interactive posters in New York.
Lumbers a bit but gets there in the end (although the talking doodle is resistible.)
MAA creative scale: 5.
