Huawei/Save the Children tie up tops YouTube at Xmas

If you can stomach a bit more Santa this ad from Huawei and Doner featuring a tie-up with Save the Children was YouTube’s top scorer in December.

£500,000 was raised for the charity.

Andrew Garrihy, CMO, Huawei Western Europe CMO Andrew Garrihy says: “As a challenger brand in the smartphone space, we always strive to do things differently. For Christmas 2017…we created a film that features a modern, streamlined Santa discovering how he could reach his full potential with the help of smart technology.

“We partnered with leading children’s charity Save the Children, to help raise awareness of those less fortunate and donated $500,000 to help make a lasting difference to children’s lives this Christmas.

“While YouTube was only one part of the media mix we used, it played a central role bringing in many ways the whole thing together.

The You/Tube December leaderboard is here. Worth a look, mostly not ads as we knew them.

Interesting to see this BBH effort for Uber in there at number five.
