Is John Lewis planning a Gruffalo-style Christmas?

The world may be going to hell in a handcart but what we really want to know is what’s going into the John Lewis Christmas ad from adam&eveDDB.

According to OK it’s a “cuddly monster” which may or may not be children’s author Julia Donaldson’s Gruffalo. So that’s the merchandising sorted out then.

Our penetrating analysis of previous JL efforts suggested a fierce lion cub. So not too far away, assuming OK has it right.

Apparently they’re now doing the special effects. Would be amusing for some if MPC or Framestore or whoever it is turned round and said: “Er, no, can’t do that.”

In your dreams rival agencies.
