It’s the D&AD Awards on Thursday and the charity has released the top performing countries and agencies so far (judging is still going on) although not the nature of the Pencils it’s awarded (the somewhat absurd wooden ones used to be a mention in the D&AD Annual, much more stylish).
D&AD is international these days but it’s still a surprise that all the top-performing agencies are overseas with the notable exception of CHI & Partners. Maybe other Brits will come with a late run.
The Top 5 ranking companies so far are:
1 Dentsu – 6 Pencils
2 Fred & Farid – 5 Pencils
3= Great Guns and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne – 4 Pencils
5= Kinetic Singapore, Iconoclast, The New York Times Magazine, CHI & Partners, Ogilvy & Mather Chicago, Ogilvy New York – 3 Pencils
By Country
1 United Kingdom – 38 Pencils
2 United States – 33 Pencils
3 Australia – 17 Pencils
4 France – 9 Pencils
5= Japan, Singapore and Sweden – 7 Pencils
Update April 26
Judging has finished and adam&eveDDB has made one of its celebrated late runs. But Dentsu’s still top. Wonder which campaign it was?
1 Dentsu – 19 Pencils
2= adam&eveDDB and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne – 13 Pencils
4: Droga5 – 12 Pencils
5= BBDO New York and TBWA\Media Arts Lab – 11 Pencils
