Cadbury starts Easter wild goose chase for Creme Eggs

Advertising seems more driven by events – or what marketers fondly think are ‘events’ – these days and Easter Sunday hoves into view on April 16.

Among other things – believe it’s some kind of religious festival – it’s also the season for Cadbury’s Creme Eggs (along with more expensive over-packaged confections).

Therefore the first week in January might seem a bit previous to start advertising the revolting things but agency Elvis has come up with bright wheeze of a Creme Egg ‘hunting season,’ starting now.

Nice try chaps, but no.

Cadbury used to be a premium advertiser and a fairly premium brand but that was in the days before Mondelez ownership and Green & Black’s proper chocolate (now owned by Mondelez too).

MAA creative scale: 4.
