This is what the IBM ‘cloud’ is supposed to look like

Here’s a campaign to gladden the hearts of datanozzles (as my friend George Parker would describe them), IBM’s visualisation of its own ‘cloud.’ From Ogilvy New York and Park Pictures.

Such clouds are the stuff of modern computing, designed to give you the impression that there’s a wonderful new store of knowledge floating around somewhere in the ether as opposed to more internet stuff at the mercy of hackers who can’t believe their luck.

We should, I suppose, thank client and agency for at least having a go at showing what the damned things look like.
