Best ads of 2015: eis.de from Jung von Matt, Angry Birds from Wieden+Kennedy

We don’t habitually associate Germany and Germans with fun (why ever not?) but German agency Jung von Matt can raise a smile, as it does here with a film for sex toys emporium eis.de.

Sure footed, funny and, doubtless, much harder than it looks.

Jung von Matt also produced this Christmas ad for German supermarket Edeko, which has garnered more online views – 37m on YouTube and counting – than even that other seasonal old boy John Lewis’ ‘Man on the Moon.’

It wasn’t one of our best ads of the year (eis.de is), wondering if JvM’s tongue was in its cheek. But Edeko won’t be complaining. A formidable agency and one which, like the UK’s adam&eveDDB, reminds clients that ads can still make a crucial difference.

Wieden+Kennedy London recovered its form in 2015. At its best the agency kicks the most boring brief into life (although sometimes it kicks when, perhaps, more gentle persuasion would be in order).

One of the highlights was this pyrotechnical feast for Angry Birds 2.
