Walking on water has always been a useful way to gain attention. It’s now being used to some effect by the wprld’s advertisers.
Last week we had Lexus’ ‘Hoverboard’ epic from CHI & Partners.
Now, storming the internet, is ‘Pipe Dream,’ a surfing motorbike helmed by Robbie Maddison for DC Shoes.
Both projects took a couple of years – and lots of loot presumably – to perfect. But both clients are presumably happy, Lexus with 16m YouTube views and loads of shares, DC Shoes with nearly 16m (well it is more spectacular) and even more shares.
You don’t have to spend that much money to reach this many people on TV. But, presumably, the fact that people are trying to find you on YouTube and the like means more.
What will the next mega-watery stunt be?
