My, how the ad world changes. BETC Paris, which can still knock out a good old traditional ad when the need arises, has hired one BaoTu-Ngoc (left) as its new head of digital and integrated production.
His last job was managing the digital production department at French rival Fred & Farid – so no surprise there then – but he began his career in 2003 at start-up Ovanet working on telecom stuff.
In 2006 he joined Skype competitor Wengo as system and network director. Wengo was subsequently bought by Vivendi. Wengo now has about 1.4m subscribers.
And he’ll doubtless be a valuable acquisition for Havas-owned BETC. But you do sometimes wonder how agencies can afford to compete for all these people who can work anywhere in the digital economy – as well as maintain people who know about advertising.
Might not be a problem of course for Havas-owned agencies, now they have the Bollore family fortune backing them.
