Coke celebrates bottle’s 100th with global adfest
Coca-Cola’s iconic bottle is 100 years old this year (what did Coke come in before?) and it’s celebrating with a huge global campaign costing a cool $100m plus.
Various agencies have been signed up to help including Wieden+Kennedy and Ogilvy Paris. Ogilvy Paris is pretty cool these days.
No idea who did this one, ‘Tale of Contour,’ although, doubtless, someone will tell me.
This kind of animation is almost too perfect. MAA creative scale: 6.
The Coke bottle was actually designed by the Root Company of Indiana (left). Some say the shape was arrived at so you you could see it in the dark or could tell it was yours even if it was broken – a somewhat dubious benefit.
Others that it replicated the shape of a woman’s body. Much more likely, designers being designers.
Here’s a print ad/poster that seems to capture the whole thing rather better.
Fantastico.
Update
‘Tale of Contour’ was Ogilvy Paris.
