Adam&eveDDB produces tour de force for SSE energy
More monkey business from the energy companies….
Ape business actually. Saw this over the weekend and now it zings into my inbox.
It’s from SSE (formerly Scottish and Southern Energy, one of the UK’s much-reviled energy suppliers, promoting the benefits of, well, energy. We kind of assume they provide heat and light (at a price) but never mind.
SSE claims it’s the only UK energy supplier to freeze prices to 2016 and, to show it’s on our side and wants to ‘re-engage’ with its customers it’s enlisted a CGI orang-utan for the purpose.
And you have to say it’s very well done; courtesy of the sure-footed adam&eveDDB, director Frederic Planchon from Academy and CGI wizards The Mill.
SSE group managing Director retail Will Morris says: “SSE is proud to power more than five million homes and businesses across the UK. We strive to make a difference to people’s lives every day. We are taking bold steps – we are the only major UK energy supplier to freeze standard prices until 2016, giving our customers peace of mind through this winter and into next.
“Every year we make an Olympic sized contribution – £9.1 billion – to the UK economy, employing more than 19,000 people.
“We want to communicate with our current and prospective customers in a way that’s engaging and this campaign seeks to do that. It captures the wonderful things energy enables us to do in our lives and highlights SSE’s actions to make a difference for customers and the UK energy sector as a whole – making it more affordable, simple and rewarding.”
OK, that’s enough of that Will – we get the point.
But it is very good and will likely win a gong or too as well as help SSE stand out from its rivals. The writers were James Gillham and Graham Cappi.
Here’s how The Mill worked its magic.
