Fred & Farid own up to scuppering ‘Omnipub’ merger

If you wondered why the Omnicom/Publicis merger, so confidently trumpeted by respective bosses John Wren and Maurice Levy last summer, foundered – it wasn’t tax problems or rows over who would be CFO.

The whole thing was a prank by impish French agency Fred & Farid who set up an ‘Epic Fail’ by forging love betters between the two men.

And that was the death of ‘Omnipub.’

Not sure I entirely believe them but it’s about as plausible as all the other explanations.
