Paddy Power wins bad taste handicap with Oscar stunt

What is it about (some of) the Irish?

As the world wearies of noted Irish joker Michael O’Leary of Ryanair, his war on passengers and penchant for unfunny ads and stunts, Irish bookie Paddy Power has succeeded in outraging over 100,000 people who signed a petition objecting to his utterly tasteless and unfunny ad trying to link Oscar Pistorious with the Oscars and a Paddy Power bet (below).

Now the UK’s ASA has banned it (a bit late, it’s a one-off) but that won’t stop PP’s next amusing wheeze. Can the ASA demand that future PP ads be pre-submitted?

No idea if agency Crispin Porter was involved in this. If it was, they’re tossers.
