Wunderman poaches top creative Bjorkman from Digitas
WPP has raised the stakes a little in its battle with Publicis Groupe to be the leader in digital by poaching Digitas North America CCO Lincoln Bjorkman (left) to be the new global CCO of Wunderman.
Wunderman, founded by celebrated direct marketer Lester Wunderman, has morphed into a (mostly) digital agency; with some success it has to be said. Bjorkman previously worked there as a creative director and headed up the agency’s Brand Buzz operation.
Wunderman CEO Daniel Morel says:“Digital engagement today is focused on rich, sophisticated, creative content that increasingly resembles TV. Tapping into a creative who is well versed in the world of television and pixel-rich content is critical to developing engrossing digital pieces.”
Which is an interesting way of putting it: pixel-rich content indeed.
Publicis Groupe, which is finalising its merger with former rival Omnicom, recently lumped LBi, which it bought last year for $540m, in with Digitas. There well doubtless be more changes afoot to various agency brands (and departures) when the merger goes through.
