Droga5, which announced last week that it was setting up a global network (it currently operates in New York and Sydney) has chosen London as its gateway to Europe; poaching Kevin Dundas (right) from 180 Amsterdam as its CEO and bringing over former Mother creative Nik Studzinski from its New York office as head creative [...]

Well that’s what they do these days – burgers bring in the punters but coffee etc is the message you want to send out. Which is what Mother New York is doing in its first campaign for Burger King since winning (yesterday) its $240m US account. Mind you, the Burger King account is not the [...]

Honda seems to be in a bit of a mess at the moment; laying off 800 workers at its UK plant while upscale rival Jaguar Land Rover is adding them. And the company is reviewing its creative agency in the US while giving the European launch of its new CR-V SUV to Mcgarrybowen’s new operation [...]

China and Japan aren’t always the best of pals (that’s enough serious political analysis for now) and Japanese marcoms giant Dentsu has therefore found it difficult to expand in its neighbour’s huge market. The traditional Dentsu model, providing absolutely everything including its own media channels, hasn’t worked very well anywhere else; other countries like to [...]

Those agencies without a big car account will be preparing to work overtime at Christmas as Honda reviews its $500m Honda and near-$200m Acura accounts in the US. Both accounts have been with indie agency RPA since 1986 and it would be a possibly fatal blow to RPA if they were to move. RPA is [...]

Mcgarrybowen may be having a few hiccups in the US, losing Bud Light and maybe Burger King – you never know with BK, but its new London-based European operation seems to have got off to a good start with the launch of Honda’s Civic in Europe and now the global account for Toblerone, formerly handled [...]

Anheuser-Busch InBev has named AKQA as its US digital agency for Budweiser, Bud Light and Stella Artrois, replacing Heineken at the WPP-own company. Heineken is in the process of moving its digital work to above-the-line agency Wieden+Kennedy. In US terms AB InBev is much bigger than Heineken although Heineken is one of the fastest-growing imports. [...]

Bud Light owner InBev is continuing to ring the changes on its key brand, moving the Canadian account to Anomaly’s new Toronto office a few weeks after dumping Mcgarrybowen in the US after just eight months in favour of roster agency Translation. Anomaly, which sold a majority stake to marcoms group MDC Partners a year [...]

Wouldn’t life be great without clients? Which probably isn’t something you hear very often at top-performing US agency Mcgarrybowen as its client service is supposed to be one of the strengths that has attracted numerous big clients – and owner Dentsu – to the agency since it was started by Madison Avenue veterans John McGarry [...]

Aegis CEO Jerry Buhlmann (left) had an interview in the Sunday Times Business News today (there’s no point in providing a link as the Times paywall is a drawbridge) saying, inter alia, that there was no conflct between his giant media buying contract with General Motors and Dentsu’s Toyota, that key shareholder Vincent Bollore was [...]
