MAA Ad of the Week: ‘No Walkers No Game’ – with you-know-who
Advertising has certainly paid off for Pepsico’s Walkers, the budget seems to go up even as the number of crisps in the pack goes down. For years Paul Weiland directed home-town boy Gary Lineker to a multimedia career and now it’s one of the ten World Cup brands (at the last count) deploying the almost-a-galactico David Beckham along with many and varied famous chums. Can’t see what Steve Carell adds to proceedings other than some US face recognition. Sips & Bites/VCCP.
Years from now MBA students will be wondering what the Beckham secret sauce is. Maybe because he always plays it well within himself: the odd sulk/a bit of OCD but no custard pies. He’s even featuring in a corporate ad in the FT for Bank of America. Surely the once big swinging dicks can’t be that credulous?
