Thursday 3rd November 2016: HMD Global, the company founded in May 2016 to create a new generation of Android-powered Nokia smartphones, feature phones and tablets, has appointed Mother as its lead global agency. The appointment follows a global pitch.
HMD Global CMO Pekka Rantala says: “Nokia is a truly iconic, globally recognised and trusted brand. As the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand for mobile phones and tablets, our ambition was to find a like-minded agency who grasped both the opportunity and responsibility in bringing a new product range to market. We are confident that in Mother we have found a partner who can help us do so for a new generation of consumers around the world.”
A global launch campaign will roll out in 2017, along with a series of new product launches over the course of the year.
Mother founding partner Robert Savile says: “We are thrilled to be working with HMD Global as it begins this exciting new chapter for Nokia branded mobile phones.”
Finnish company Nokia was the world’s biggest mobile company until Apple changed the game by launching the iPhone.
Mother has offices in London, New York and Buenos Aires and its major clients include Stella Artois, IKEA, Diageo, Boots, Unilever and MoneySuperMarket.com.
