One of the intriguing issues of the next couple of years will be BBH’s fortunes under full Publicis Groupe ownership and one advantage should be the ability to expand its offer internationally. So new rich godfather Maurice Levy has provided the agency with a nice Christmas present in the form of Swedish mobile agency Monterosa, [...]

Here’s Maurice Levy’s Christmas card from Publicis Groupe. It’s been an interesting year for PG; a good financial performance by peer group standards, the acquisition of LBi and a neat and advantageous exit from its partnership with Dentsu. But is there something lacking? Flagship agency Publicis Worldwide still doesn’t stand for much apart from lots [...]

Fashion items and luxury goods have proved remarkably resilient during the recession with big-spendng clients preferring to stay with smaller specialists rather than entrusting their precious wares to big agencies. So Publicis Groupe is buying specialist agency AR New York whose clients include Banana Republic, Brioni, Smartwater and Jimmy Choo (left). The agency was founded [...]

Who, you may say? While it’s no surprise that Nick Brien has been turfed as CEO of McCann after a string of account losses, it is a surprise that he’s been replaced by Harris Diamond (left), a PR man from New York. Diamond, a lawyer by training, headed Interpublic’s CMG unit which includes PR and [...]

Media industry veteran Jack Klues (left), long-time boss of Publicis Groupe’s VivaKi media operation, is to retire at the end of the year. CFO Frank Voris is taking over with Rishad Tobaccowala as chief strategy and innovation officer (the media man presumably). At the same Publicis Groupe CEO Maurice has announced that Vivaki will become [...]

Publicis Groupe’s results for the third quarter of 2012 show revenue of €1.63bn, up 14.7 per cent year on year but just two per cent on an organic basis. Which is remarkably similar to WPP’s 1.9 per cent ‘growth’ figure. And the reason (as with WPP) is that revenues fell off a cliff in September. [...]

Ah, the cynicism of the modern corporation. Remember all those years ago when Jo Moore, spin doctor to Stephen Byers, Department of Transport, Local Government and Regions secretary, emailed her boss those immortal words, referring to 9/11: “It’s now a very good day to get out anything we want to bury”? Well, now the French [...]

Some Wall Street types think Interpublic, the alleged subject of a $6bn bid from Publicis Groupe a few weeks ago (denied by both parties, more energetically by PG) is still in play. Forbes reports that CEO Michael Roth (left) has wrung a startling profits rise out of the company even though its revenue has hardly [...]

Anything you can do, I can do better.. No sooner has WPP’s Sir Martin Sorrell snapped up digital agency AKQA for $540m than arch-enemy Maurice Levy of Publicis Groupe buys biggest remaining indie digital network LBi for, yes you’ve guessed it, $540m. Levy (left) will add LBi to his already impressive line-up of digital shops [...]

In a new twist to an old corruption scandal that engulfed Renault two years ago, Maurice Levy, head of Publicis Groupe, has been accused of bringing about the unfair dismissal of a senior marketing executive at the French car company. To recap, three senior Renault executives were dismissed at the beginning of 2011 after they [...]
