Can Cadbury’s search for a new Milk Tray Man recapture past ad glories?

Well, well..another blast from Cadbury’s advertising past. How serendipitous is that?

‘All because the lady loves Milk Tray’ was a famous long-running campaign and the last actor to play the mysterious hero, James Coombes in 1987, steps up to begin the search for a new ‘Milk Tray Man’ in a campaign from Fallon.

Here’s one of the originals.

Will it work as well it did in the new era of designer chocs?

But being in chocolate ads can, indeed, make you a star – albeit briefly. George Lazenby played James Bond (pretty well actually) in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, the one where Bond is briefly married to Diana Rigg. Lazenby made his name as the man in the ‘Big Fry’ ads, Fry’s being another Cadbury brand.

They don’t make ’em like that any more. Just as well really.
