All this global malarkey can bring problems in its train and Heineken and agency Wieden+Kennedy seem to have stumbled on some of them in their latest campaign for Heineken’s sponsorship of the Champion’s League football. The new ‘global’ ad ‘Road To The Final’ shows the resourceful hero of the campaign finding a way to get [...]

Forgot to buy the issue of Campaign with its ‘School Reports’ (sometimes questionable judgements of top UK agencies). Here’s what Wieden+Kennedy’s Neil Christie (left) thinks of them. Each year Campaign magazine does its ‘school report’ evaluation of the performance of UK agencies. For some reason – possibly to avoid indignant complaining by agencies outraged at [...]

Here’s a strange one: Nivea Stress Protect can keep you dry and fragrant even though half the world is looking for you and at you and the cops are on the way. Who’s it aimed at? Terrorists? And is it real or staged? But this three minutes or so from German agency Felix & Lamberti, [...]

Foster’s is about as ersatz as alcoholic potions come these days; brewed under licence by SABMiller in the US and Heineken in the UK and Europe. For its 125th anniversary Adam&Eve/DDB has produced this campaign for the Heineken bit, harking back to 1888 when William and Ralph Foster first produced the stuff, which (then) probably [...]

After a few years as top dog among go-ahead European creative agencies Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam was rather eclipsed last year by some others, not least its London sibling. Maybe it was that big account thing; its stuff for Heineken and its connection with the Bond mega-movie Skyfall was deftly handled but, somehow, failed to excite. This [...]

Geoff Gower, managing partner-creative of London-based digital and direct agency ais, says that the best online ‘campaigns’ are more than that: instead of asking how can we promote ourselves they should start from how can we help? Bugger, still haven’t sorted out the agency Christmas card. This is what it feels like to be a [...]

The new James Bond film Skyfall is proving a winner at the box office (although it seems to be liked more by the media than some people who’ve gone to see it) and it’s a winner for agency-of-the-moment Wieden+Kennedy too. W+K has already produced a slew of stuff for film sponsor Heineken and now it’s [...]

Anheuser-Busch InBev has named AKQA as its US digital agency for Budweiser, Bud Light and Stella Artrois, replacing Heineken at the WPP-own company. Heineken is in the process of moving its digital work to above-the-line agency Wieden+Kennedy. In US terms AB InBev is much bigger than Heineken although Heineken is one of the fastest-growing imports. [...]

Not many entertainment brands last for 50 years but Ian Fleming’s James Bond has. Actually Bond in the films isn’t very much like Bond in the books, who was an upper crust Englishman who had his cigarettes hand-rolled in Jermyn Street. Fleming was horrified when Sean Connery, a working class Scot, was signed as the [...]

Well here it is, the ad (or one of them) for the new James Bond Skyfall film from Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam featuring his Bondness himself Daniel Craig. And it’s all quick cutting (out-takes from the other ‘Open Your World’ ads by the looks of it) and one take, at the most, from Dan. Is it any [...]
