More awards stuff: The UK’s D&AD Awards is now open to the world and New Zealand seems to have made a strong early showing with, among others, this campaign from DraftFCB (of all people) for NZ animal charity the SPCA. The campaign is intended to find homes for thousands of mutts and sets about this [...]

DraftFCB could do with a winner or three and it seems to have produced one with this ad/online film for US retailer KMart’s online operation which has become, arguably, adland’s biggest gross-out online hit to date with zillions of online views, shares and Tweets. KMart is reviewing its account so, from DraftFCB’s point of view, [...]

Wieden+Kennedy Portland isn’t supposed to be Mondelez-owned Oreo’s ad agency (that’s officially shared between DraftFCB and The Martin Agency), it just keeps producing Oreo ads. Here’s the latest on the ‘Cookies and Cream’ theme. And it’s fine, a simple dramatisation of the brief really (which usually makes clients happy). With the 2013 awards season creeping [...]

38 year-old Carter Murray (left), a Brit who made his name in Europe with Leo Burnett and Publicis, is leaving his job as head of Y&R’s North American operations to take over from Laurence Boschetto as head of Interpublic’s troubled DraftFCB. Murray told Ad Age: “I like big challenges and I like big opportunities and [...]

Wieden+Kennedy beat agency of record DraftFCB to the task of making Oreo’s Super Bowl ad and it always seemed rather odd that brand owner Mondelez (officially at least) stuck to the story that Oreo would then return to DraftFCB for business as usual. Then The Martin Agency appeared from left field, tasked with creative duties [...]

The Super Bowl ad we all want to see before Sunday’s game is Wieden+Kennedy Portland’s for Oreo – Mondelez gave the task to W+K ahead of official lead agency DraftFCB. Apart from info to the effect that it features a struggle between between people who like the crunch and those who like the cream in [...]

Here we go: Deutsch LA have been busy bees; producing VW’s Jamaican-themed opus for the Super Bowl on Sunday and also this one for Taco Bell showing a bunch of senior citizens partying at the popular eaterie. Deutsch recently muscled onto the Taco Bell roster alongside ‘lead’ agency DraftFCB (both agencies are owned by Interpublic). [...]

When you see these things you always wonder who’s idea it was. Were the staff of DraftFCB South Africa dragooned into warbling “Life’s a happy song when you’re building favourite brands all year long” or was it a communal, or crowd-sourced as we say these days, idea? My friend George Parker doesn’t like it (which [...]

My friend Jerry Judge (left) of the Fearless Group in New York has highlighted the apparent absurdity of Mondelez hiring the world’s hottest creative agency Wieden+Kennedy to produce its Oreo 2013 Super Bowl ad while at the same time bending over backwards to restate its loyalty to decidedly uncool incumbent Draft FCB – and awarding [...]

*The Leveson Inquiry into UK media ethics (or the lack of them) duly reported and proposed a very sensible system of, essentially, self regulation for the UK’s rumbustious national press, with a legal framework preventing the bastards from just ignoring the rules and doing what they always have done. All perfectly sensible – so off [...]
