DraftFCB wins big for KMart with 'ship my pants'

DraftFCB wins big for KMart with ‘ship my pants’

By Staff on April 16, 2013

DraftFCB could do with a winner or three and it seems to have produced one with this ad/online film for US retailer KMart’s online operation which has become, arguably, adland’s biggest gross-out online hit to date with zillions of online views, shares and Tweets. KMart is reviewing its account so, from DraftFCB’s point of view, [...]

Ben Callner's 'Goat 4 Sale' takes early lead in Doritos Super Bowl ad competition

Ben Callner’s ‘Goat 4 Sale’ takes early lead in Doritos Super Bowl ad competition

By Stephen Foster on January 16, 2013

Every year Doritos runs a ‘Crash the Superbowl’ competition to find two ads to run in the ad fest ($4m for thirty seconds this year apparently) and US film maker Ben Callner is one of the five finalists with ‘Goat 4 Sale.’ We’ll be putting our $4 on Ben with Paddy Power.

Doritos wishes us a merry online Christmas – Mexican mariachi style

By Angie Dean on December 10, 2012

I think we’re on to a trend here. We’ve just had a Christmas card from Philip Green and Topshop (he’s all heart that boy) and now Doritos and agency AMV/BBDO have enlisted Doritos’ very own Mexican mariachi (folk) band to give us a version of East 17′s 1994 Christmas hit Stay Another Day, complete with [...]

Indie duo triumph for Doritos at the Super Bowl

Indie duo triumph for Doritos at the Super Bowl

By Angie Dean on February 9, 2012

Maybe this crowd-sourcing lark is a good idea after all, it certainly works for PepsiCo’s Doritos. Two Doritos films from indie film makers have topped USA Today’s polls for the most popular ad with the public at the Super Bowl, netting Kevin Willson (left) (‘Sling Baby’) and Jonathan Friedman (‘Great Dane’) $1m each from a [...]

Is crowd-sourcing really the way for General Motors to go at the Super Bowl?

Is crowd-sourcing really the way for General Motors to go at the Super Bowl?

By Staff on January 26, 2012

General Motors’ ever-controversial global CMO Joel Ewanick has decided to outsource his creative ideas (or crowd-source as we say these days) for the Super Bowl, a path followed with some success by PepsiCo’s Doritos but a bit more questionable with cars. This is one such effort that’s running already. And it’s terrible. Ewanick is in [...]

Is it going to be dogs and butts all round at this year's Super Bowl adfest?

Is it going to be dogs and butts all round at this year’s Super Bowl adfest?

By Stephen Foster on January 20, 2012

Well it is if this preview of ads set to run in February’s Super Bowl is accurate anyway (it probably isn’t). Is Bud Light by Mcgarrybowen or former agency DDB? Is the Doritos ad crowd-sourced again? Looks like it as it’s pretty clear what young men like with their Doritos. And domain firm Go.Daddy is, [...]

PepsiCo and AMV invent Firefingers and Icefist for Doritos Fire launch

PepsiCo and AMV invent Firefingers and Icefist for Doritos Fire launch

By Angie Dean on October 6, 2011

PepsiCo and UK agency AMV/BBDO have invented a cartoon duo, Firefingers and Icefist, to promote new Doritos Fire (claimed to be the hottest Dorito yet) and Pepsi Max Citrus Freeze (just the stuff to cool you down afterwards). It’s an ingenious way to create a launch promotion for the digital generation, in effect by getting [...]

AMV/BBDO pulls out all the stops for Doritos' Dip Desperado

AMV/BBDO pulls out all the stops for Doritos’ Dip Desperado

By Stephen Foster on July 5, 2011

UK commercials may have failed to trouble the scorers at Cannes this year but some agencies at least are trying hard to get back into the creative game. But are they succeeding? This is AMV/BBDO’s latest for Doritos through production company Independent and directors Glue Society (Jonathan Kneebone and Gary Freedman). I do wonder sometimes [...]

Top marketer Jill Beraud is out as PepsiCo tries to put some fizz back into its fizzy drinks

Top marketer Jill Beraud is out as PepsiCo tries to put some fizz back into its fizzy drinks

By Stephen Foster on June 17, 2011

Someone had to pay for the indignity of Pepsi losing second place in the US soft drinks market to Diet Coke (no prizes for guessing which one is first) so PepsiCo Beverages CMO Jill Beraud is on her way. She will be replaced by three people it seems, as PepsiCo tries for a more ‘global’ [...]

Best Super Bowl ads compilation is ingenious job application from TV producer Brian Dryfhout

Best Super Bowl ads compilation is ingenious job application from TV producer Brian Dryfhout

By Stephen Foster on April 26, 2011

And very useful it is too, seeing all these ads together casts an interesting light on the current preoccupations of creatives (they seem very keen on accidents for a start). Producer Brian Dryfhout is looking for a job and the guy obviously knows a good ad when he sees one. Standout is still Eminem and [...]
