Fallon UK and parent agency Saatchi & Saatchi seem to be getting their mojo back; as in this newish ad for Cadbury’s Crispello (what on earth is that? Do we need another snack?). This campaign has polarised opinion somewhat; some find it winningly cheeky, others deeply annoying (it’s got a Pringle-sweatered dad in it). But [...]

Mondelez is pretty active at the moment and the former Kraft snacks business is launching Cadbury Wispa Hot Chocolate (Wispa’s a Cadbury chocolate brand) with this new TV campaign, ‘Frothy Beast’ (as opposed to sexy beast), from Fallon. Which rather makes you wonder why they don’t call the business Cadbury not Mondelez. The beast himself [...]

There’s been a lot of famous advertising for fizzy mixer Schweppes (once owned by Britain’s Cadbury but now with different owners all over the world) and the Aussies have revived the old theme ‘Schweppervescence’ for this interesting take on (eventually) bubbles from George Patterson Y&R Melbourne. Here’s one of its most famous predecessors, from Ogilvy [...]

Trust seems to be a growing issue for brand owners. The latest scandal has been the horsemeat saga in burgers. Tesco (left) acted instantly with full page ads in the national press apologising followed up by a further full page ad informing the public what they have discovered and what they are doing about it. [...]

Kraft is reported to be reviewing its Toblerone account, presumably as part of the restructuring which will see its snacks business (mainly confectionery) hived off into new company Mondelez next year. Its current agency is WPP’s Ogilvy and before that it was Y&R, also now owned by WPP. It’s fair to say that Toblerone’s advertising [...]

The departure of Joel Ewanick as CMO of General Motors (pictured) is a sudden and unexpected move not helped by the comment from GM: “.. he failed to meet the expectations that a company has of an employee.” Hmmm, not sure what that is code for. I do not have the remotest clue about why [...]

When I saw the news Tesco had appointed Wieden & Kennedy to handle their £110m ad account my first reaction was ‘interesting and surprising decision’. The smart money would have been on Tesco hiring one of the big players and not an agency renowned for its outstanding creative output – Honda, Nike, etc. The reason [...]

Wieden+Kennedy London has won Tesco’s circa £110m account, presumably because of its record in producing brilliant ads. Now what are they going to do? Every little helps, as they used to say, so here’s a potted review of some great ads handled by great agencies on behalf of great clients over the past decade or [...]

Long before it was snapped up by Kraft, Cadbury thought it had put itself out of the reach of such predators by buying US chewing gum firm Adams, whose best known brand is Trident. Now new(ish) owner Kraft has turned from long-serving agency JWT to Wieden+Kennedy London to try to put some energy into another [...]
