Saatchi’s Will John joins Uncommon as fourth ECD

Uncommon has hired a fourth executive creative director in the form of Will John. He has been at Saatchi & Saatchi for the last five years, where he worked on EE, John Lewis, Deutsche Telekom, Visa, TNT Sports and NBA Europe.

John’s work is billed as sitting “at the intersection of creativity, technology and culture.” He joins in the wake of Uncommon wins BT and Under Armour. The Havas-owned agency claims growth of more than 40% year-on-year since its inception in 2017.

Will John, ECD, Uncommon said: “Uncommon has always stood out to me as a place that consistently produces some of the most exciting and influential work in the industry. I’m thrilled to be joining at such an exciting time for the studio, and I’m looking forward to building on that momentum.”

Nils Leonard, co-founder, said: “We’ve been trying to get Will through the door for a while now, so we’re delighted to have him here. He brings a rare mix of craft, ambition and leadership that helps those around him become better. To be able to add Will to our stellar line up of creative leaders is incredible – I can’t wait to see how he impacts this next chapter at Uncommon.”

A lot of senior creative moves this week. Let’s hope there’s a parallel investment in junior creatives to bring new blood into the system and stop the pool drying up.
