BBH buys Monterosa to open new agency in Stockholm

imagesBBH is launching in Sweden, bringing the Publicis Groupe-owned agency its seventh network office. It now employs 1000 people in London, Singapore, New York, Shanghai, Mumbai, Los Angeles and Stockholm.

The new agency follows the acquisition of Swedish mobile agency Monterosa. BBH says its ambition (among others no doubt) is to be “the number one agency for the mobile age.” Monterosa, which numbers Adidas, Volvo and Travelex among its clients, develops mobile products on its own account as well as for clients. BBH Labs in London has pursued enrepreneurial ventures with varying degrees of success. Buying an acknowledged expert in mobile therefore seems a sensible move in an app-driven world. The new agency will be known as BBH Stockholm.

BBH Worldwide CCO Pelle Sjoenell (a Swede and not a man for understatement) says: “I’ve been dreaming of this. BBH, the brand and agency I grew up admiring, is coming to Stockholm. For us as a global brand, to add the absolute spearhead of technology and Swedish tech talent to the rest of the BBH family and its clients, is amazing. But to also help bring the strategic and creative muscle from the BBH world to Sweden is equally exciting. It all just makes me proud in so many ways.”

Monterosa founder Carl Norberg says: “Sir John Hegarty and Sir Nigel Bogle putting their names above the door of the agency I started six years ago is the ultimate confirmation that we are on the right track. Its an honour to play in the BBH shirt and take my word for it, we will not play defence.”
