McDonald’s burger contest brings best out of Burnett

McDonald’s in the UK is taking a leaf out of Walkers’ book (or maybe it’s the other way round or a coincidence) by inviting fans to invent their own flavours/recipes in a competition.

The Walkers ads with Gary Lineker (some featuring director Paul Weiland) are played strictly for laughs. McD, as is its way with agency Leo Burnett, goes for a mild chuckle.

Very good, as nearly always.

Wish I’d known about this competition earlier. Had a combo of beef carpaccio, truffles, oily mash and a poached egg in London tapas restaurant Salt Yard the other evening. That would surely have won. Too squishy for McDonald’s maybe?
